Stars Black and White Twill

If you are in the San Francisco area this weekend, here's a reminder to check out the American Craft Council Show, and if you're not near San Francisco, there's still time to change that fact.

Back at the studio, here's what's going on this week.

Twill Stars

I realize that I have not formally introduced myself yet. Seeing as I will be continuing to write the occasional guest post on this blog, perhaps that is something I should do. My name is Augie, and here at Muffy Young Handweaving I am a part time weaver, web designer, and boss's son (I'll leave it to you to decide which of those isn't actually part time).

Returning to the original topic, due to the aforementioned show, I have all of the looms to myself this week. Downstairs is a warp of star scarves in black and white. Upstairs, breaking up a long streak of mosaic patterns, are some extended twill shawls. I'm very excited to be working on these shawls. First, since they have a single weft color, they are a very quick and easy weave. Second, I just really like the pattern. It's simple and lightweight. You can't really tell from the photo, but the shawls are quite translucent.

Well, that's all for now. Stay tuned for some updates from the west coast.
